POLI-MAS: Power-Line Multichannel Audio System

In this work we have designed a system to play remotely high quality multichannel digital audio by the Power Line home network. POLI-MAS solves the needs imposed by the convergence of the three audio segments, namely, home audio, entertaining audio and PC audio. Thus, the stored audio files in a computer can be played in any location within a home by using the power lines as their transport medium. Interestingly, the compatibility of POLI-MAS with Ethernet 10Base-T is total. Many different audio formats are supported. The basic version, named POLI-MAS 2.0, is designed specifically for MP3. The upper version, referred to as POLI-MAS 5.1, can handle MP3, AC-3, MPEG-2 AAC and MPEG 2.5.
